#RockTheCrop - Hell Yeah!
O Magazine has recently come under fire regarding a Q&A article about crop tops. When asked, “Can I pull off a crop top?” the columnist answered, “If (and only if!) you have a flat stomach, feel free to try one.” As you can imagine women everywhere were offended by the tasteless style advice. This remark birthed the movement and hashtag #RockTheCrop. Women of all shapes and sizes confidently displayed their flat (or not so flat) stomachs in a crop top to support the idea that you should wear what you want to regardless of size.
Personally I’m surprised that a woman of Oprah’s caliber would associate herself with that kind of body-shaming. Did she write the article? No. Is it her magazine? Yes. Has a public apology been issued? Absolutely NOT! In today’s world where the focus is more on self-image and less on inner beauty, articles like this can be very damaging. We can’t all look like the Kardashians because we aren’t all rich. We can’t all look like Jennifer Lopez. We can only look the way God designed us to look. Instead of body-shaming, shouldn’t O Magazine use their enormous platform to promote a healthy body image? If they won’t the WE WILL!! Check out a gallery of women who rock the crop confidently and fearlessly!
I couldn’t begin the gallery without representing myself!
